WHO
KNOWS? - a new musical
Opening
night: August 26, 2005
Featuring the hit song:
"I Don't Know Why, But It's You"
Shhhhhhhhh!!
Dorothy is the prettiest, smartest girl in town and checks out the most
interesting books-- one a week, to be exact. In between the lines, Dorothy
tats as her Grandmother taught her before she died. Without her Grandmother
to guide her, Dorothy now looks to Evelyn, the head librarian, to fill
the mother-figure void.
Gary, a shy librarian, is in love with Dorothy. Not well versed in the
ways of love, Gary looks to his librarian/confidante Frederick who advises
him while arranging the fiction. (For Frederick, see also: gayish; Woody
Allen-ish; busybody.)
Evelyn warns Dorothy to 'stay away from people. All you need is in books.'
(She once told this to her friend Margaret who became an agorophobe and
couldn't look people in the eye.)
Ultimately, Gary got upset that Evelyn advised Dorothy to stay away from
him and deprived him of love. They all rebelled and burned down the library.
Frederick fell in love with the non-gender-specific Margaret, and Dorothy
found that sex was better than books. She got pregnant, ensuring that
there would be more "people" in the world.
The man you are is more than the man-u-script.
